In the crazy, fast food world we live in, there has to be some meaning. I just want to see if I can make it out with my head on straight, focused on the one and only God. That's my focal point of life.

New blog...

Well... Leslye started a new blog and decided that I should just post there whenever I wanted, so this one is somewhat out of order I suppose.  Go to Roberts Review.

Also, you can catch up with my other blog at Tarleton Tales (all the info you need for Tarleton sports.)

God bless!

Rangers game...
Sunday we went to our first Ranger's game of the year, and they played well but lost in the 10th inning... We got there late (the bottom of the fourth), but Leslye said it was OK they would go into extra innings.  They did, but only one, so I told her they still owed me three more.  Oh well, we had fun.

We went with the Foster's Home - thanks Karen for the tickets! - and had fun!  Maybe sometime when we go, we can get there on time, and more importantly, they will win!!!

We're buying a house!
After a long period of living in duplex (if you can call five years a long period, and I do), we are buying a house here in Stephenville!  Yes, we found one we like, and though I think houses should be cheaper than they are, we are pleased with the deal we are getting, especially for the house we are getting with the deal!  Of course, I know that Leslye has not lived here for five years - just a little over nine months - but we are both definitely ready to move into something we can call our own.

Below is a picture of the house from the front curb.  It is on a corner lot and has three bedrooms, two baths, a two-car garage on the side (yeah!) and a large living room, dining room and kitchen.  The yard is also very nice with a sprinkler system and very good grass with good lanscaping.  There are a few weeds that need to be pulled, but Leslye can have fun with that (just kidding honey, I will help!!!).

So you can see the outside below, but if you want a peek at the inside, we will be painting Memorial Day weekend and moving May 31.  That would be a good chance for anyone to see the inside over the box he/she is carrying Wink ... hehe!  Just kidding, although the help would be appreciated if anyone wants to offer.  Have a blessed day everyone!

Praise God...
Just a quick note to update you on family cancer...or the lack thereof...

My grandmother, who had surgery June of 2006 for breast cancer is still cancer free!

And my dad, went for his PET scan the week after Christmas and thanks be to God for his cancer free news as well!  One full year without the cancer (which was found in his abdomen two weeks after Granny's surgery.)

Even though life throws you curves sometimes, I am thankful both my grandmother and my dad stood in the batter's box and fought off some bad pitches only to hit a homerun!

It's not what pitch you see coming at you, but how you handle the pitch that counts!

All praise be to God for the good news!

New Year... New Car

Welcome to 2008...

Leslye and I had a great Christmas break traveling all over Texans to see family and friends, and though we had a lot of fun, we were glad to be back home and sleep in our own bed.  Other than being a little sick with what I think was a sinus infection, I thought we had a very nice break, though, it was short.

We spent last weekend in Austin on a wedding and basketball trip.  Leslye's cousin got married Friday night in Austin before the men's basketball team played on Saturday and Sunday.  We had a good time.

Then we went back to Abilene for our third Christmas, this one with Tami, Jeff and Cody who couldn't make the first family Christmas because they were on call.  We left Abilene and got back home to Stephenville to stay for a while.

Yesterday (Wednesday), Leslye and I made our first big purchase, replacing my truck that was on its last dying leg (or should I say tire) with a 2008 Equinox Sport.  We are very proud of it and really like it.  I took it back today for them to fill it up with gas and work it up nice and neat.  It is metallic silver with charcoal and grey interior.  Thanks be to God that we are blessed enough to be able to get this blessing (despite not wanting to fork over a lot of money on my part).

Well, I hope everyone had a great holiday season and are looking forward to a great 2008!

A lot has happened...
Talk about changes...

Since my last post, I have fallen in love and yes, I even asked her to marry me.  More importantly, and for some reason that only she and God know... she said Yes!

Now that was back on Dec. 8, and we are busying making wedding plans that are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Snyder, Texas.

Her name is Leslye, and she is an awesome Christian lady who loves her God, her family and me.  And I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her!

This is us, and I love her very much.  She is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I hope everyone will get to know and lover her, too.

So that's what's been happening in my life, other than work and church as usual.  Oh, and I am teaching Adertising this semester at Tarleton as well.

Just thought I would update everyone, and I know I have said it before, but I am going to work hard to keep this updated with thoughts, musings, words and pictures.

To sign off, always remember, when it comes to changes and God, it's us who changes and not Him.  He will forever be faithful to us!  And sometimes, He throws you great blessings, like Leslye is to me!

Thanks for the prayers... please continue
Well... I have some good news I received while at my convention this week...

Mom called to tell me dad had received a great report from the doctor and that he should go back to life as normal... camping, traveling, teaching, etc.  He got the stitches out of his abdomen and he has handled the chemo so far so good!  The doctor thinks he should be done with the treatments by Thanksgiving.

My grandmother also got a great report last week and seems to be cancer clear on the tests.

Praise God for the good news; however, I ask that you continue your prayers for my family that dad continues to have the strength to improve and will get back to life as "normal" as soon as possible.  Well... as normal as normal is for him.... HEHE!

God bless!

Need your prayers, please...
Wow, life can throw curves, that's for sure...

Two weeks ago, my grandmother had surgery for cancer and they think they got it all. A bone scan Thursday should tell us more.

Then today, we find out my dad, who had been having some trouble in his stomach, has lymphoma in his abdomen and back.  They are going to have to put a shunt in his shoulder for the chemo and the IVs and such because the veins in his arms are not working well with the IVs.

That really opens your eyes...

I ask everyone prays for my family at this time.

God bless!!!

Losing....
They did it again... they did it again... they gave away another game to fall behind 3-2... silly Mavericks, losing's for kids...

Oh well... so I went this last weekend with my sister and brother-in-law and some of their friends to a Rangers' game and lake cabin. We played three days of golf, swam in the lake and rode the SeaDoo.  Then, to top off a great weekend with friends and family.... I got sick.

It has been a long time since I have been sick, especially that sick, but I think I am mostly over it.  Come to find out, a lot of others on the trip got sick as well.

Hmm... Makes me think of how much we could be effective in the spreading of the Word.  A stomach bug can affect anyone it comes in contact with and does so effectively most of the time.

How much more is the Word contagious?  How much more should we be on fire to spread the Word than some stupid virus?

Well.. the Mavs play tomorrow night and it's a must win situation... At least they are at home where they took the first two games.  I think they can pull off games six and seven if they play their game, drive to the basket and quit shooting stupid jumpshots.

They could win that way... as could we with spreading the Word.  Sticking to God's gameplan can help us win souls.

And maybe we can all win and feel good about it... at least all but this stupid stomach virus.

Should they let them back in the huddle?
Where did they go, oh, where did they go?

The Mavericks controlled the games in the first and second games of the NBA Finals series, but gave game three to the Heat on Tuesday before forgetting to show up on Thursday.  I mean, they shot just over 30 percent from the field and lost a game that again, they should have controlled.  On Tuesday, the Mavs led by 13 with six and a half minutes to go, but they let the home team come back and win it.

Could have been a sweep, but no, let's make it interesting and make us win it at home.

We just finished VBS last week at Graham Street, and it was a blast.  Perhaps I'll go into more detail later in a blog (yes, that does mean I am going to start writing more, of course I have said that before).

At VBS we had the theme of Treasure Cove where "Jesus is our greatest treasure!"  We taught the kids about Jesus' treasures us no matter what we do so we should treasure him as well.

I guess as true Mavericks fans, we should do the same for them, even though they were 2 of 12 in the fourth quarter tonight and were outscored 21-6 over the last 6 1/2 minutes on Tuesday.  Can you say they failed?

The good thing is the Jesus that treasures us will never fail us.  It is us who misses the shots, it is us who throw the ball out of bounds, not Him.  He's perfect from the field and a perfect coach, we are the one who fail to execute the game plan.  Good thing He loves us so much He lets us back into the huddle.
